Our Fees

Lawyers usually charge on an hourly rate basis (time-recording). That means that while a lot of lawyers give estimates, there is a risk that if something goes wrong, your final account can be a lot higher than you first thought.

Lani Law gives you another option… FIXED FEES, which means NO SURPRISES!

Fixed fees for standard transactions are:

Personal

Preparing or updating Wills

* Our fees start at $350.00 + GST for a basic Will. If the Will is more complex, we will discuss and agree a fee before we do the work.

Factors that will influence the amount of the fees are, for example, whether we need to obtain a certificate for mental capacity, whether we need to arrange for upliftment of your previous Wills from another law firm, whether you sign your Will at a location other than our office, whether you give somebody the right to live in your property after your death before the property goes to another person etc.

Disbursements (not included)

Office administration costs – includes phone calls, printing, photocopying.
Any costs payable to third parties such as courier fees and other third party disbursements.

Enduring Powers of Attorney

* Our fees start at $395.00 + GST for a basic Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA) (that is for each EPA). If your EPA/s are more complex, we will discuss and agree a fee before we do the work.

Factors that will influence the amount of the fees are, for example, whether we need to send you for independent legal advice, whether we need to arrange for upliftment of your previous EPA’s from another law firm, give notice of revocation of previous EPAs, whether you sign the EPAs at a location other than our office, the number of persons you appoint to act on your affairs and where they live etc.

Any costs payable to third parties such as courier fees and other third party disbursements.

Plus $100.00 + GST if the Unit Titles Act is applicable to the sale.
Plus $150.00 + GST if the property is a farm or lifestyle property.
Plus $250.00 + GST per caveat withdrawal.

Without a mortgage to discharge

Plus $100.00 + GST if the Unit Titles Act is applicable to the sale.
Plus $150.00 + GST if the property is a farm or lifestyle property.

If the Vendor is a Trust or Company, we charge an extra $250.00 plus GST per Trust or Company to prepare supporting resolution/s etc as well as an extra $125.00 – $150.00 per Trust or Company for Anti-Money Laundering Compliance
If the Vendor is an individual, we charge an extra $25.00 – $50.00 per individual for Anti-Money Laundering Compliance

Land Information New Zealand Fee – Discharge of mortgage: $90.00.
Title Search: $6.00 per search.
Office costs – includes phone calls, printing, photocopying.
Any costs payable to third parties.

Residential Property Purchase (Buying a home):

With a mortgage to register
Fee plus the additional standard compliance fees set out below*

Plus $100.00 + GST per Kiwisaver application.
Plus $100.00 + GST if the Unit Titles Act is applicable to the purchase.
Plus $150.00 + GST if the property is a farm or lifestyle property.

Without a mortgage to register
Fee plus the additional standard compliance fees set out below*

Plus $100.00 + GST if the Unit Titles Act is applicable to the sale.
Plus $150.00 + GST if the property is a farm or lifestyle property.

Land Information Memorandum Fee – Christchurch City Council currently charges: $290.00
Land Information New Zealand Fee – Registration of the transfer of the property into your name: $90.00

Title Search, Guaranteed Search and Instrument Search: $6.00 per search.
Same Day Cleared Fees, PPSR searches
